Actually on level I admire it, the same way I admire anyone who shows up at a negotiation making wild demands that don't reflect any understanding of the actual leverage of their position.

Not a CFBmo, but why don't teams just play against the other teams in their conference/league like every other sport in some organized fashion instead of choosing their own random games/schedules and then arguing about who had the harder schedule or whatever? It's bizarre.

every college sport lets teams choose their OOC schedule. this isn't just a football thing. it's the same even in non-money sports like tennis. not sure how you can do it any other way w/ hundreds of colleges in existence.

I'd just reduce the number of OOC games and have them be like "friendlies" in soccer where they don't count for anything. Just group colleges into conferences geographically and that's their regular season with some playoff at the end. Maybe have one big top-level national conference that you could get promoted into / relegated from, and the top 2 or 4 in that one go to national playoff games.

the two dozen or so reliably respectable teams will routinely schedule ooc games with each other. given the total number of teams, if it were randomized you’d likely end up with a bunch of nonsense matchups like eastern spokane tech vs. miami, which helps nobody.

So do this. 120 teams.

Division 1-A: 12 teams, bottom 3 get relegated. Winner is National Champion (can have a playoff between the top 2).

Division 1-B: 36 teams, 3 conferences (East, Central, West, 12 in each), top team in each conference gets promoted to 1-A, bottom 2 in each get relegated.

Division 1-C: 72 teams, 6 conferences (Northeast, Southeast, North, South, Northwest, Southwest), top team in each conference gets promoted to 1-B.

Kind of late for that.

ND already has signed agreements to play Clemson, Indiana, Alabama, Michigan, Auburn, Texas and Florida in the next 6 years. Also are close to a 2 year extension with USC. That’s not including the Miami, FSU games and the other slop from the ACC deal.

A big part of the beef between ND/ACC is that ND/Clemson went around ACCs back to sign the recurring home and home and ACC was irate. ND and FSU were working on a similar thing but it’s on hold now after FSUs poor performance.

I see two good opponents (Georgia, Texas) and three middling opponents (LSU, Oklahoma, Diego Pavia).

Note Dame has one good opponent (Miami) and two middling opponents (SMU, USC).

Might need new prescription glasses, michael.

the six consecutive weeks for Ole Miss from October 10 through November 14 (no break) is harder than ND's last three seasons combined

Let's talk about "middling" for a moment. Right now, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt would destroy ND

lmao look I'm sorry Alabama shat the bed against Oklahoma but it is one of the most sorry playoff teams I've ever seen and I would take Tulane +3 on a neutral field against them.

Lmao at any SEC team beating ND this year. SEC champ Georgia had their shot last year in a virtual home game.

Why did ND lose their first two games this season?

TAMU, an actual SEC School, literally beat ND, just a few months ago.

$EC is fraud and plays fraudball at nearly every out of conference opportunity. This year alone, Miami beat Florida, Ohio State beat Texas, Florida State beat Alabama, Clemson beat South Carolina, Louisville destroyed Kentucky 41-0 (the same Kentucky team that took Texas to overtime), Notre Dame beat Arkansas by 43 (Arkansas lost their 8 SEC games by a combined 54 points).

Don't all the other teams have preferential treatment by reserving spots for conference champions? That's how bad teams, Tulane and JMU, AA'ed their way in.
