I do visit other sites ofc but it's always because I'm linked there or because I'm trying to figure out or do something specific and so I'm looking around the internet for info and tools
When you think about it though this isn't actually that weird or much of a change from how things used to be. Aggregator sites and search engines were always preferable to checking a bunch of individual sites for stuff. Probably the most notable difference these days is that Reddit is legit unusable shitlib botted garbage when it used to be an actually really useful and interesting website |

you'll just run a query and they'll have an index of websites and then an AI result similar to Google - the big difference they'll generate a website on the fly - all the ad inventory surrounding the output will be running through OpenAI.
The website as we know it is dead - just an auto generated llm response in website format. You'll be able to bookmark the site and it will update over time - add elements to it maybe you can share it and can share of the ad revenue?
Google are running AI responses on their search results - I'm guessing this will force their hand to roll out fully generated websites so they can keep Adsense pumping.

I've predicted this coming for a long time but I don't think it will work. This kind of thing only works if it has real time web information to cannibalize in order to generate its content/output. Eventually (really, in only a year or two), it will have already choked out the rest of the internet and everyone else will have shut down or gone out of business, and it won't work either
This kind of thing is actually a much bigger existential threat to The Internet than people realize |
