Been in nonstop fight-or-flight over the dumbest shit lately. Basic tasks feel like climbing Everest. Heart races, migraines, everything’s a trigger.

Background: parental abuse, got defrauded out of a ton of money, and dealing with people acting like psychos. That combo flipped some switch and now my nervous system thinks I’m in a war zone 24/7. Doesn’t feel like it’s going to let up.

Killself? Benzos don’t do shit anymore.

I have/had it. Diagnosed by both a psychiatrist and psychologist. Caused by severely traumatic events in my mid-20s that I don't want to get into.

Everyone's experience is different. In my case, it started pretty much immediately and was intense for about 2.5 years: constant fight-or-flight mode, daily flashbacks triggered by practically anything, inability to relax, daily benzos for years, etc.

For me, the only true fix was time. These days I can actually relax at times, but I'm still not back to how I used to be. I can now look back at what happened to me and laugh it; it's far in the past, a more distant memory with each year that has less influence over me.

The benzos ARE doing something; they won't stop every symptom, but they will lessen them at the very least.

Happy to answer any questions.

WFH and a laid-back manager made it possible; there's no way I could've worked in an office at that time because I had an elaborate routine to cope with the constant anxiety. I walked at least 10 miles (average of 12 miles) every single day for over two years. I got up and walked frantically several times during the work day. I started smoking a pack a day, too.

I was not working anywhere close to a full eight hour day and was incapable of doing so, but WFH allowed me to hide all of this.

Mindfulness meditation has helped me tremendously with this issue.
