Ask him why he’s running for Governor and not a lower level position in the Florida state government (state legislature, for instance). And not just “why,” but why he thinks he is qualified to run one of the biggest states in the union given he hasn’t done anything of note in his life outside of being a provocateur.
I say this as someone who is to the right of most on this website. But just being “based” is not enough. And if anything, his current stature will likely hinder him long term (if he loses the primary.)
Guys like him with political ambition, but no measurable substantive *outsized* personal success, need to do more to build a foundation if they are to pursue this sort of role IMO.
I’d rather have someone who I agree with 90% of the time run a state effectively than someone I agree with 98% of the time run it ineptly. At the end of the day, being Governor is more about keeping the trains running on time and working with myriad constituency groups to implement your vision than anything else. Many, many people have a great vision in their minds that they have zero chance of bringing to bear in reality.
