We’re debating private school now and I can’t believe it. God willing my wife comes around and we can continue sending kids to the public schools I can literally see from our front yard. We live in a very a good district but our middle school is a little diverse (the bad kind). |

Date: October 18th, 2025 11:00 AM Author: sienna property useless brakes If you want an old house, it’s basically impossible to find things like tall ceilings, giant rooms (like a ballroom — most of which were added later — or large living room and dining room for entertaining), decent closets, functionally sized kitchen, large bathrooms etc. absent buying a mansion with many more bedrooms than are reasonable. People had more children and extended family and had servants 100 years ago and floor plans reflect that. So while a modern design might have non-bedroom spaces that were the same size at call it 6-7k sq/ft, 5-6 bedrooms/baths to get that in a 100 year old house you have to buy something 10k sq/ft. with 10 plus bedrooms (including small ones for servants).
And that is not accounting tor the fact that old houses are often three stories of living space above ground and modern houses are rarely more than two (although finished basements are a thing).
If you study design and house plans it all makes sense. |

My parents told me that they would have to put me in a hotel room because there was no room in the house. I'm like, "You have 5600 fucking square feet."
