mmos have always sucked. they were a novelty that became popular only because of the newness of massively multi-player persistent worlds. and they only endured because they got people hooked on the randomness and false sense of progression. just like chat rooms have faded because people eventually realized they weren't particularly fun or useful. same with segways and tons of gadgets that offer nothing but "wow!" factor. people that grew up with MMOs and online spaxes being everywhere arent wowed by them, and killing trash mobs for hours to grind loot so you can grind different loot to grind different mobs doesnt have enough appeal on its own.
