Despite the troll responses I think this is actually the right number for modern times. I'm at about $3M net worth at age 41 and don't feel comfortable yet. Doing the math I do think $5M would be my number to finally walk away. Have kids (teenager and pre-teen) and this is taking to account helping them with cars, college and wedding (but not sustaining their day to day adult lives).
