Multi-Billionaire that has already given his children the lifestyle that less than 1% of the world could ever experience:
"Oh no, sir! My kids will have to go out and get a REAL JOB!"

I always found Gates' desire to not leave money (in a real sense given his wealth) to his kids to be demented. The guy is such a spiritual faggot. Especially when you consider that his dad was a founding partner of the law firm that became K&L Gates. The nigga talking about "my kids will have to earn it!" like he grew up in some trailer park. Just fucking lol. The nigga had a silver spoon in his mouth from day one.
And as I recall from when I was a little faggot reading Malcolm Gladwell's 10,000 hours book (whatever it was called), Gates had access to some cutting edge computer lab because of his parents. And this planted the seed to go into the industry and obviously gave him a leg-up on basically every other kid that didn't have access to such a thing.

One of my partners has three kids who are all living in poverty and working menial service jobs. He acts like it's noble of him to not give them a dime. Holidays must be rough, I bet his kids hate him.
Otoh he gave them every advantage and paid for all their education. Some kids are just losers regardless of their pedigree. Not sure whether it's better to give those kids an RSF allowance and let them continue flailing in the hope one day they become self-sufficient.

I think the $10m number is more insulting than giving them nothing at all. If you give them nothing, you are effectively telling them "you can do what I did and perhaps even more. You may hate me for it, but that hate will drive you to greatness." If you give them everything, you're saying "hey it's just money, let's take care of it intelligently together as a family."
But $10m? That's more than enough to be comfortable, but not so little as to instill any real drive. If anything, it would only serve to anesthetize any nascent ambition the children may have had.
It's also not enough to do something truly interesting. e.g. Erik Prince who took his father's auto parts fortune and used it to finance a modern mercenary army.
What's more, $10m is basically 0.01% of Gates' net worth. And when you consider that he has spent multiples of this sum on absolutely insane and ridiculous "charitable" endeavors (like drinking water funneled through shit), it's hard to not resent him if you're his kid.

If you have nothing, you have peak motivation to do something about it. You will never have more motivation to strive then when you are desperate.
I think the best plan is to give them nothing. And best if no one knows they're a Gates. You should give them fake names and send them to boarding school in Switzerland.
I think give them nothing and try and get them to strive as nobodies is humane. I think opulence destroys the soul. Otherwise they will just be full time consoomers. I think there's nothing worse than having kids who don't earn their keep. Not everyone is going to get rich but I think everyone can tow their own line.

how are they living in poverty? are they like completely useless and have no motivation? how does anyone live in poverty? they probably have some semblance of a life even if it's not great.
yes investing in your kids to some extent is a universal trait of white european civ. I believe the notion was popularized by Rousseau. "Just be nice to your kids and try to help em out" is uniquely Western.
How bad are these kids lives though? Like they don't have a Bugatti so their lives "suck" is that what you're getting at or are they trying to dig for scrap metal?

The true recipe for BIG success in my view is:
Smart Enough (too high an IQ is overrated for money making)
+
Coming From Nothing (or near nothing)
+
Chip on Shoulder
It obviously doesn't always work, but it is much easier to swing for the fences if you've been broke. Because you then understand that being broke isn't necessarily the end of the world and you can deal with it. So if you swing for a home run and end up with nothing, at least you tried. (side note: look at how many shitlibs become completely deranged - I think this is because they have been comfortable and hate themselves for never trying to do anything. They resent those that try.)
Whereas if you have $10m at the outset, you are likely to be way too comfortable. That can easily convert to $400k a year and all the sudden you're wrapped up in stupid UMC status games like a fag.
I would venture a guess that more truly wealthy people came from nothing vs. came from multi-millions.
My actual thought with Gates is he should've just committed to passing on the majority of his wealth to his family. But if he's not going to do that, he needs to go whole hog and trust that his kids have the ability to surpass him. Obviously he does not think this given his initial plan was to give them *just enough*.
