It's all indians and Russians now.
My grandfather was a long haul trucker. He retired in 2010 after he aged out. Otherwise he'd still be on the road. He owned his own truck (claimed to have the absolute nicest Peterbilt on the road) and shop and did a lot of his own maintenance. He is also a crazy OCD type and loved working on his truck. He had to bring his truck into a local mechanic my dad knew and he told my dad my grandfather took his tires on and off so frequently that her wore out the posts. He'd never seen that. He had his Peterbilt truck seat installed in his pickup when he retired. I should go see that guy.

Seems like inevitable automation.
Society used to have more extraordinary men performing these now seemingly rote tasks. I doubt it was as economicly efficient but everything feels cheap now.
