The International Space Station is powered by a solar array. And it could likely only power around 50 GPUs. If you had a solar array the size of a football field you could power around 100 GPUs. Large data centers currently deploy more than 100,000 GPUs and there are facilities planned that will use more than a million. A single 500,000 GPU data center would require 5,000 football fields worth of solar power to power it. You'd need about 500,000 football field-sized solar array data centers orbiting the Earth to power this. |

I would not short Tesla stock. Not just because of Musk, but also because he is positioning his businesses in such a way that they should directly benefit from massive AI spend. Whether or not I think it will "work" as stated is besides the point. |
