I wonder how the F35s will fair if we attack Iran

I'm prepared to be disappointed.

Zero. They'll just use standoff weapons.

When do you think they will ever be used? I'm skeptical that they're even effective.

Depends on what you mean by effective.

They are just stealthy flying platforms for the best radars known to man. The speed, maneuverability or even range of an aircraft doesn't matter when you can fire a missile at a target before the enemy even knows you're there.

Maybe what I meant to say was I expect some embarrassing technical defect.

Military gets around that problem by flying them with half their features disabled.

I think we know all of its flaws by now. It's easily the most scrutinized product ever designed at this point.

When I said "we" I meant the US military. Of course they're not going to tell us about all of the fighter's limitations.

It's easily the most scrutinized product ever designed at this point.

Looked like you implied the Pentagon had already figured its flaws.

Oh definitely not.

It's an inherently flawed plane. The moment they tried to take one design and make an carrier capable fighter, a VTOL fighter and a standard air superiority fighter it was doomed.
