The situation makes the kid look like Low Loser, the progeny of Scum living on the fringes of society, when ime it was just parents making a Value Judgment that it wasn't worth the fucking time and they avoided being Shamed for it by pretending it was the 70s and ngaf, also my mom was trying to Drain my father of assets while hiving off her own assets derived from W2 labor which means no time for Losery kids.
But anyway it's a weird combination of factors, people (white people) constantly wanting to stratify into Castes and Cliques and avoid Scum and Losers. And in the country where "working" is seen as "good," having a W2 job that you have to Drive to marks you and your progeny as Scum. and look at these millennial parents. Even with a SAHM the dad is Expected to do a shitload of parenting. So dad is disappearing from work, driving kids around while mom recovers from Emotional Labor.

Also there's a lot of kids in situations where the kid lives far enough away from the school that walking is a genuine hassle, but you can't take a bus because the school district thinks you live close enough to the school.
My freshman year of high school sucked. It was a long ass walk and I didn't know any older kids that could give me a ride.
What's kind of bullshit is how much sports stuff parents feel pretty obligated to attend. When I was a kid I didn't give if fuck if family were there to watch, it was about playing with bros. |
