like 80%+ of it is useless words, but the fundamental theses are good and cr
for me, the most meaningful point was that not only are the philosopher and tyrant of the same type, but actually the tyrant is the full self-actualization of the philosopher. behind every true philosopher is a potential tyrant
it has always bothered me that the term "philosopher" is used so loosely. there's only one true philosopher qua philosopher: the man who seeks truth so that he can use it as a weapon and a tool for his own gain, until he ultimately epitomizes and personifies 'truth' as a tyrant via his mastery of himself and the world around him
instead we refer to every random circle-jerking dork as a "philosopher" when none of these guys are actually searching for truth, they're just turbo-coping losers who tell comforting, rationalized lies to themselves and others in order to feel better about themselves
the breeding as prerequisite for man's understanding of nature thesis was also cr and interesting. i think he's correct about that too. and i think he's correct about the extreme important of recognizing this reality in our particular time and place

I havn't read the book nor do i plan to, as I find BAP both disingenuous, annoying and grating. these are impressions made on me immediately when I first saw his twitter stuff back in the day, in-your-face level obvious. ricky feels the same way I think
"there's only one true philosopher qua philosopher: the man who seeks truth so that he can use it as a weapon and a tool for his own gain, until he ultimately epitomizes and personifies 'truth' as a tyrant via his mastery of himself and the world around him"
i don't agree that truth is only about using it for one's own gain. there is an aspect of that, but another aspect is about understanding the world for its own sake.
i'm not trying to be antagonistic, but your fascination with this interpretation and approach may be because you have tendencies toward tyranny while also self-stylizing as a philosopher. shrug

this goes back to one of my main issues with you: you see things as you are simply right, others are simply wrong, that's all there is. very black and white. that's fine if you like this approach - and you've shown little inclination to change it over the years - but i think you do a disservice to yourself by constantly hand-waving away positions that you just disagree with without studying the implications of those alternative positions. this dramatically weakens your arguments, imo.
"every actual philosopher is a would-be tyrant". was schopenhauer a "would-be tyrant"? he advocated withdrawal from the world and promoted the ascetic ideal, like a proto-buddhist. or was he not an "actual philosopher" in your mind?
or maybe he's a "would-be tyrant" because he pushed a woman down some stairs one time?
a better approach is to incorporate other ideas into your arguments and address them even if you don't ultimately agree with them, imo

i change my views on things all the time, more than 99%+ of people in fact. what i'm actually guilty of is being mean and dismissive toward other people's wrong or dumb opinions, which is what you actually don't like about me
when a person is interested in knowing the truth - the actual truth - people who pretend to be interested in knowing the truth, but are not (or who Cannot due to their intrinsic nature), are very annoying and get in the way. you can't help but feel contempt toward these people. having to wade through 1000s of these guys for every one actual Philosopher is tiresome and obnoxious
keep in mind that Philosopher as i use it does not refer to how this term is used in present-day context, which is something like "circle jerking pseudo-intellectual Humanities Guy," but rather to what the term originally referred to: someone who is interested in truth about the natural world, which encompasses the empirical in addition to the rational

what have you changed your mind on lately?
no, I don't care about "meanness", lol. I poast on XO. spandrell is a writer, for example, that I will read even though I don't like him personally and I think he's a huge asshole and very off-putting interpersonally. but at least he covers the ground for making a well-rounded argument.
was schopenhauer a "circle jerking pseudo-intellectual Humanities Guy"?

the recognition that suffering being a fundamental and necessary part of life, that death is inevitable, etc isn't "pessimism" nor does it follow from these premises that "life is not worth living," "the bad prevails over the good," "non-existence > existence," etc. no smart person believes this, including schopenhauer. it's just not true that he believed it, sorry, and that's why he lived a full and normal life just like every other person who comes to understand that suffering is a part of life and we are all mortal and die. it's all just pseudo-intellectual loser cope garbage
this stuff is just stupid, dude. if you really think that life is evil and pointless, then kill yourself. you won't, because you don't actually think that (no one does), and you're just circle-jerking about it like everyone else who is a loser and wants to sit around moping about it to cope and feel "superior" to normal people who live normal lives

i defended him for years on xo bc I thought BAM was a good book
he has proven every critic right however. he shills atheism (explicitly, with that word) for christians, and some jerkoff fantasy of zoroastrian judaism for future jews
christianity is ripe for criticism, but someone championing judaism is 100% acting in total bad faith

his person? I said something about his person, like his nose or a personal trait like how he treats his mom?
I wrote that his IDEAS are based in pushing christians specifically towards atheism, and jews towards some shit he wrote about Judaic-Hindu-whatever.
and those ideas invalidate his *other* ideas about reforming christianity
