Trump gets a call from David Sachs and he decides not to sign EO putting guardrails and regulations on AI. Meanwhile new Goldman Sachs reports says net loss of 16,000 jobs a month from AI, which will likely increase exponentially. No plan from the admin for UBI or retraining. They’re just literally going to hand the most important utility ever created to a small cabal of weirdo tech billionaires who have no guiding religious or secular humanist principles. No guardrails, no regulation, no control, no defense for the broader masses. What a disgusting vile group of people in this admin. They keep beating the drum about CHINA and AI but China actually looks to be far more careful and subdued in their approach to this dangerous and un-G-d-like technology.

he does have cum dripping out of his ass, but it seems to be widely agreed at this point that AI is about to revolutionize the world and eliminate like 90% of jobs. if that's remotely true, things are about to get very bad.

it's bullshit and it's just a way for GC to cut the dead weight they've wanted to do for years without saying things are in dire straits. nothing more. ms office in the 1990s was way more impactful/job loss related to businesses and corporate structures than this nonsense.

paradigm shifts happen all the time (I was actually joking with my wife this morning how in college I did a group project with some nigger from the football team about paradigm shifts and he pronounced it "para-diggums" and no one had the balls to correct him).

"AI" actually is pretty stupid and pretty useless except for people whose jobs involve writing 50 page "briefs".

reality is we (i.e. Americans and not you) should just shut the borders completely down and stop doing business with China and India. We'll be better off in the long run.

I think about the para diggum thing more than I should and realize it was wrong. I've grown up a lot since then, both as a person and poaster.

the ABA and AMA both are cartel industries protecting jobs that could have been done by regular college grads in most cases for decades yet they've kept a stranglehold on it. they aren't just going to let it go so don't get your panties in a bunch over this shit. you libs have been trying to force obsolete excel for the last 15 years yet us numbers assholes still exist. higher education has been proven to be an absolute scam over and over for decades yet parents still feed $50K+ a year to those clowns.

Why not just wait until there are unemployed people and productivity gains (ie something to tax) before getting into UBI? It seems like you people “want” UBI in and of itself and not to actually solve a problem. The unemployment rate is lower than the average over the 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, you name it.

Uber spent $3.4 billion on research and development efforts in 2025, 9 percent more than it had spent the previous year. Earlier this month, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said the company was making up for its increasing AI investments by hiring fewer human employees.

No normative statement, just a fact. Look at our debt. It's basically an abandonment of the current monetary system. That's not a partisan decision. That 1% fear declining population means declining GDP and control. But regular people are going to be living with the impacts as well. To that extent interests align. I'd like to believe Elon wants robots, AI, etc to continue furthering human progress. But sure they could be murderbots that toss us in shanty towns. Or this depopulation issue could be just hysterics.

there is literally nothing the US federal government can do to stop AI because we are dependent on china for all of our consoomption

strong US guardrails = china wins

to which you might say, "but fuck china, just ban using their shit in that case"

except as we already discovered over the past year and a half we are absolutely fucking powerless to impose any serious restrictions on trade with china. a 20% tariff is one thing, but china has the power to buttfuck us with reckless abandon if we say something like "we will ban use of any gen AI products from china"

which means our choices are:

a) hoping we can somehow stay competitive

b) be beholden to chinese corporations instead of US corporations

Ok even assuming it’s inevitable, where is the plan to deal with mass labor displacement? No one is even talking about it. We hear more about talarico’s dietary habits than protections for american workers.

There is no plan. Considering the future is never how America has worked, even when our government was functioning well and building infrastructure that was the envy of the world, and certainly not now that our country is several IQ points lower and more myopic and spoiled than ever before.

"Knowledge work" deserves to be destroyed though. The public and youth hate AI because they see it as displacing art and music and being the ultimate incarnation of Online, not because they're worried it will replace the class of jobs which were largely already bullshit.

there's basically no world in which knowledge work gets automated and we don't end up with robotics capable of doing all Real Jobs. in order for knowledge work to be automated, you need high reliability AI that can adapt and reason about novel situations. the sort of thing you can almost certain prompt with "design me a robust robotics system" or "how can i integrate your multimodal capabilities with my humanoid bot"

They didn’t “hand” it to them. Anthropic and OpenAI and Google trained these models. They belong to them. The executive order was just some sort of safety review and has nothing to do with UBI or the other stuff you are talking about. These labs are already doing thorough safety reviews before release. Look at the Opus 4.8 system card from today if you don’t believe me. Anyway, it’s hard for me to imagine the government would even know how to do a competent safety review of these models. the experts that are familiar with LLMs are not working for the federal government. They also weren’t going to be stopping these models from being released because of their economic impact.

There are real concerns here but Trump not doing some sort of lame safety review of LLMs is not it. Most of human labor will be automated in our lifetimes and we should be thinking of a way to manage that. There is no realistic way to stop that from happening short of blowing up the fabs and existing datacenters.
