In the shipping business, the liner trade is the least prestigious cargo for shipping besides maybe fat American cruisers. So this rules out all of your big giant container ports.
The most prestigious cargoes are either crude oil or highly specialized refined products. In today’s environment, I would say Corpus Christi is the most prestigious port in the United States. It’s third largest by total volume, and it is through Corpus that we ship the black gold of the Permian away to be refined elsewhere.
All of the refinery hubs are pretty prestigious though. Container ships, ROROs, and general cargo ships are the dregs of the industry.
