They’re always looking for something that’s underrated or overlooked by the mainstream bc it helps fill an emotional need for them. Sit these motherfuckers down and have Scientists measure brainwaves and they’ll be evidently and empirically bored as fuck playing FF8.
9 holds up well probably (I only played it one time iirc). Perfect for the 3x speed release with the otherwise long af load times. It’s better now than it was on release because of the 20 year AAA JRPG drought making us appreciate it more. At the time it was like “oh they keep making Games.” FFX was out the following year. FF8 out the year prior. FFX holds up for the same reason 9 does. We didn’t know how good we had it. There was a time where Consoles had Games. |

8 has amazing characters too and the best overarching story, the gameplay is a lot more fun. Soundtrack is amazing. I think as a Sci fi story it's totally unique and weird and original. It takes you out of yourself. Plus it added a really sappy love story. It sort of had everything.
9 had a really cool setting and was totally immersive but the game itself is shorter and too easy. I think they were reacting to people thinking 8 was too hard, because you can't beat 8 unless you roam the world for ages leveling up so you can beat the last disc. 9 is don't remember ever having to try to beat it. I liked the medieval theme.
10 I never got into but it seems way cooler than anything that came after it. |

There's also an island you can go to on the edge of the map where you can fight powerful monsters until you get to the highest level. |
