on extra high reasoning. and it is different and much less faggy and cautious than gpt and claude.

i don't use AI, can you do me a favor and run a trade analysis? i want to know if there's a way to trade SGOV and VTIP that generates a higher yield than buying and holding either one of them. SGOV price is completely predictable, VTIP price has some volatility. there are two potential areas for arbitrage - one is that SGOV pays monthly, and VTIP pays quarterly, so there may be an opportunity to hold SGOV for the first month, sell the gain, then jump into VTIP for the next two months, then effectively get paid four months worth of dividends for three months of holding. this assumes VTIP price doesn't rise proportionately in the first month, which seems to be true - it rises disproportionately as the record date approaches. the other issue is that VTIP routinely pays a terrible dividend in the first quarter, like 10-20% of what the other quarters pay out. it has something to do with the way the fund is structured. SGOV is stable aside from fed rate decisions. so it seems that the move would be to hold SGOV for the first 3-4 months, then move into VTIP for the rest of the year while making the first-month-of-the-quarter SGOV trade described above. of course both of these ETFs drop in price on ex-dividend day, so trading could result in equity loses. but as long as VTIP price stays stable, which is has for a long time, it seems like you could get out of any downturn eventually. on the other hand, if you can move in and out of this trade without a lot of equity loss, you could pick up an extra 3 or 4 monthly dividends per year. is it possible to run this trade historically and see how it works out? seems to me you could cop something like 6-7% at a very low risk.

here's the specific trade, mostly trying to avoid record dates because of the subsequent drop in price, instead cashing in on price increases leading up to record dates:

jan 1, buy SGOV

april 30, sell SGOV, buy VTIP

june 25, sell VTIP, buy SGOV

july 31, sell SGOV, buy VTIP

september 25, sell VTIP, buy SGOV

october 31, sell SGOV, buy VTIP

dec 20, sell VTIP, buy SGOV

over the past 10 years, does this trade result in a higher yield than holding SGOV or VTIP all year?
