Everyone in my neighborhood makes less than me. I got the mortgage at 6% while they all paid 2% and $100k less than me. Somehow they still bitch and I don’t. Also sold my condo I had for 2% for a huge profit but that’s besides the point. I feel so “rich” compared to them that sometimes I wonder if I’m forgetting something lol. Think me and my wife have been poor so many years that we don’t know what normal is.
My HVAC went and I had to pay $22k for a new one. I shrugged and was going to pay $22k when the guy got there. He looked at me confused and said we have 0% financing just do that. I’m like whatever. And he looked at me like I’m a millionaire that I can write a $22k check and think nothing of it.
I think the goal of you’re working in NYc with a family and poor like me is find an area that’s white, good school district, but everyone makes less than $150k. They exist in the Hudson valley. Just have to look. Your commute will fuckin suck but you’re doing it for your family plus it gives you mistress/unaccounted for time where your wife has no idea where you are. And days off are better. |

My mom died 7 years ago and my dad is older and I visit him with the kids on the off days but had to move further bc my wife had to be a SAHM after my mom died bc she watched the kids during the day.
Her parents moved far away and she has no communication with them. |

His wife works as a fund raiser for non-profits making about $80-$100K. They live in LI near all 4 grandparents and are in a good public school district.
They do quite fine. Their big trip each year is splitting a few outer banks houses rentals with 7-8 other college friends and their families. |
