the point is not that the tech is immature and things are worthless because it hasn't been built yet. it's that EVEN IF THEY GET BUILT, the underlying best-case scenario theory for why they should have value has serious, hilariously easy to point out flaws and they will be worthless barring some EXTREME MIRACULOUS DIVINE INTERVENTION that changes the nature of the game we're talking about entirely.

Date: March 4th, 2018 4:17 PM Author: Shimmering public bath ETH is a utility token that currently poses as a store of value. just like bitcoin has trouble simultaneously being a currency AND a store of value since the two functions are so at odds with one another, ETH will have trouble being both a utility token and a store of value. so if it's ever to be useful (utility), it's going to largely shed its role as a store of value. then it's a mere utility token, constrained by the harsh dictates of real-world use, granting it multiple additional points of failure that it wasn't susceptible to before, and there are plenty of reasons specific to utility tokens as to why they will fail to appreciate in price over time, presenting specific dangers to the current overblown prices that ETH has today. and all of this is ASSUMING eth becomes useful in the future by way of overcoming its technological hurdles and having its decentralization raison d'etre catching on, both of which are tremendously tenuous assumptions in the first place (http://www.autoadmit.com/thread.php?thread_id=3909688&forum_id=7#35533388) |
