Then Magna at HLS.
I'm assuming between the transfer to Columbia and his Magna performance at HLS, his grades during UG were probably solid |

See "OBAMA From Promise to Power" Chapter 4, David Mendell. This book is full of facts about Obama's history and it won an NAACP Image Award. It appears that Obama got into Harvard Law because of the community organizing work he did in Chicago and the fact that his father went to Harvard grad school. I don't know if Obama Sr. graduated. Obama also made important contacts in Chicago before he was admitted to Harvard. He had graduated from Columbia in 1983 and was not accepted at Harvard until 1987.
