Jimmy McMillan has endorsed Donald Trump for president. It’s too damn ironic.
The flamboyant founder of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party has endorsed moneybags landlord Donald Trump for president.
Jimmy McMillan made the stunning announcement Friday.
Rent at his candidate's glitzy Trump Tower runs about $6,000 per month for a one bedroom.
The affordable housing advocate said his interest in veterans' issues trumped his passion for tenants' rights.
He's a Vietnam vet who has struggled with post-traumatic stress.
Trump, who did not serve in Vietnam, has touted his commitment to war veterans and claimed Thursday he raised $5 million for veterans groups.
"He's the only one who is supporting my brother veterans which is good enough for me," McMillan told the Daily News on Friday.
"My main concern is helping my brother veterans get help," he said. "America needs change."
McMillan, 69, said that when he ran for president himself in 2012, he wanted Trump to be his vice president.
He said he's never met Trump in person, but "I've read up a lot on him."
The perennial candidate with the carefully coiffed white beard said last month that he had run his last race and was retiring from politics.
He previously ran in mayoral, gubernatorial and presidential races with his snappy slogan.
His prior endorsements have included Anthony Weiner and an Iowa teen who last year filed to run for president under the name "Deez Nuts."
