But if you want to be objective, things are shittier. Income inequality is worse. Wage increases no longer follow corporate growth nor performance and they haven't for nearly a decade. Unions are dead. Social services are shittier. It is more competitive than ever to get a good education, and a good education is worth immensely less than it was long ago. Jobs are less stable. More people are being forced into contracted work without benefits, others are doing overtime without any pay increases. Not only are proles losing their jobs, but so are educated elites in industries like tech, law, finance, and medicine--they're making cutbacks, their salaries aren't going up, and their future is not bright, just far, far less abysmal than that of the people below them. Democracy is officially broken at its most fundamental level ,and it is clear that voting impacts major policy decisions. Our government monitors us more. Our politicians are far less accountable for their wrongdoings. Racially, yes, we'll have a comparatively more equal world. Economically we will have an abysmally unjust one. We don't live in a capitalistic system but a corporatist one. Money is pooling together and together at the top, competition is being shut out by bigger players, and the government is not only enabling but actively ensuring this happens.

I understand why nonwhites have hopes for the future, and why globalization is viewed by many as a bright path to the future. Colonialism, racism, etc. are actual problems and have held people back for years and it's abysmal and shitty. And things will genuinely get better for nonwhites and I really don't have a problem with it.

Overall though, this country is getting shittier. There are far fewer winners, way, way more losers, and it's becoming far less common to fall somewhere between the two. The middle class is officially dead. Sadly, nonwhites will never experience the sort of generic middle class easy living low hours white picket fence existence white Americans got in the 1950s. Most of history is a plutocratic elite ruling over a massive swath of poors. That's what America was for pretty much it's entire history until the post WWII "golden age", and that's what it's going to continue being in the near future. The middle class was a strange anomaly.
