Democracy is officially broken at its most fundamental level ,and it is clear that voting impacts major policy decisions. Our government monitors us more. Our politicians are far less accountable for their wrongdoings. Racially, yes, we'll have a comparatively more equal world. Economically we will have an abysmally unjust one. We don't live in a capitalistic system but a corporatist one. Money is pooling together and together at the top, competition is being shut out by bigger players, and the government is not only enabling but actively ensuring this happens.

I understand why nonwhites have hopes for the future, and why globalization is viewed by many as a bright path to the future. Colonialism, racism, etc. are actual problems and have held people back for years and it's abysmal and shitty. And things will genuinely get better for nonwhites and I really don't have a problem with it.

Overall though, this country is getting shittier. There are far fewer winners, way, way more losers, and it's becoming far less common to fall somewhere between the two. Most of history is a plutocratic elite ruling over a massive swath of poors.
