His wife, Claire Comfort, 30, was granted full legal and custodial custody and given a five year order of protection from Zappin who has an “anti-social personality disorder,” according to Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper. ---------- In his ruling, Cooper said a 13 day trial had proven that Zappin had physically assaulted his wife eight times around the time she gave birth in late 2013 and that he engaged in a pattern of “coercive, controlling behavior” in what Cooper called "a war of intimate terrorism."
Cooper said Zappin's violent history with Comfort "combined with his explosive anger and inability to control his emotions raises the distinct possibility that he could hurt his son" and that, by example, he would teach the boy that "it is acceptable to abuse other people."
Cooper imposed the $10,000 fine on Zappin after ruling that in the early stages of the custody proceeding, he had used "his law license as a tool to threaten, bully and intimidate" judges and others involved in his bitter battle.
Zappin has filed a lawsuit against the Daily News and another publication over their coverage of the earlier sanctions order, although he has not yet served his complaint in that case. |

Apparently he claims he was beat up by "Mafia Princess" Judge Deborah Kaplan during divorce proceeding. Kaplan was removed from the bench. The NY Office of Court Administration assigned his case to Cooper, the only case on Kaplan's docket assigned to him. Cooper and Kaplan share mafia links. Cooper has history of abusive litigants in New York Post and Daily News detailed in the complaint. Issued a sanctions decision before trial against Zappin without providing him notice or opportunity to be heard. Disseminated it to the news, despite being sealed which caused Zappin to be fired from Mintz Levin. Cooper refused to recuse himself subsequently retaliated by publicizing more facts to the New York Post and Daily News during the custody trial.

Ms. Comfort sought a job at Quinn Emmanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, but was declined an offer by partner Edward DeFranco. Ms. Comfort subsequently obtained an offer from Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP from a partner at the firm and professor at Columbia University Law School whom she had a sexual relationship while attending law school. However, Ms. Comfort needed a conflict waiver from Google, Inc., which she requested from Mr. DeFranco who represented Google. When Mr. DeFranco refused to obtain the conflict waiver for her, Ms. Comfort began trolling the Internet as the “QuinnPumo” on Above The Law, AutoAdmit.com and other sites making defamatory statements concerning Quinn Emmanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and its intellectual property practice. Evidence at trial demonstrated this. Plaintiff also introduced evidence at trial and to Dr. Ravitz that Ms. Comfort posted on various Internet websites under various monikers such as “Tommy Turdskin,” “To be fair,” “Partner Emeritus” and Non-Jew Wearing a Yamaka to Cover Baldspot,” “and “N*gger N*gger Chicken Dinner,” to name a few, making insensitive and defamatory posts. A years-long custody battle between two former Manhattan lawyers has re-ignited after the husband accused his ex-wife of abusing him during their brief marriage and claimed that lawyers colluded to rack up $1million in bills during their last trial.
Anthony Zappin, 32, has accused his ex-wife Claire Comfort, of getting blackout drunk on dates, lying to him about using birth control in hopes of getting pregnant and scarring his face and body in months of physical abuse, according to court documents exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.
His lawsuit comes two years after losing custody of his now-four-year-old son in a trial that saw him portrayed as a serial abuser who engaged in 'coercive, controlling behavior' against Comfort, also 32.
In the 2016 trial, Zappin, who represented himself, was fined $10,000 for being 'hostile' during court proceedings and 'bullying' his opponents.
In legal documents filed on February 23, Zappin sued his wife, her lawyer from the trial, Robert Wallack, and their son's appointed lawyer, Harriet Newman Cohen for damages 'in an amount to be determined at trial'. He says that he hopes to bring 'an end to an ongoing scheme of harassment, fraud and the deliberate undue infliction of harm by defendants' directed toward him.
Zappin claims that Wallack and Cohen 'exploited a child custody proceeding to churn enormous legal fees totaling well over $1,000,000 to defraud the state family court system and inflict irreparable financial harm in total disregard for the well-being of the child'.
The 32-year-old, who now lives in West Virginia, claims that through it all, Comfort 'sat back and even actively participated in Wallack and Cohen's corrupt scheme in order to deprive Plaintiff of a relationship with his son'.
Zappin calls Wallack and Cohen 'fraudsters and sycophantic monsters who will do anything for their own personal gain, even hatching schemes with the supervised visitation agency to interfere with Plaintiff's access to his child in order to maintain the financial gravy train that has become the Zappin v Comfort litigation'
Comfort and Zappin first met when they were both studying at Columbia University's Law School in 2009.

During their courtship, Zappin claims in court documents that Comfort was 'black-out drunk on several dates' and used 'illicit drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy'.
Zappin claims that he saw Comfort as a 'casual dating friend' due to her 'rampant alcohol and drug use'.
Starting in November 2012, Comfort started physically and emotionally abusing Zappin and would lie to him about using birth control while having unprotected sex, according to court documents.
Zappin claims that Comfort 'hit, shoved scratched and kicked' him on 'many' occasions and once 'repeatedly kicked and slapped him' after accusing him of having an affair with Taylor Swift.
More than once, Comfort attempted to stab him with forks and knives from their kitchen when he received unsolicited texts from ex-girlfriends, Zappin claims in legal documents.
She would also force him into having unprotected sex and dig her nails into his back to ensure he would ejaculate 'inside of her even though he unequivocally sought to terminate the act', Zappin claims.

The papers continue: 'On other occasions, Comfort would get Plaintiff intoxicated with the intent to have sex by serving him spiked drinks laced with benzodiazepine and/or ecstasy unbeknownst to Plaintiff that she termed "Fresquillas".'
Zappin claims that this was all part of a 'scheme to get pregnant', and says that on occasions when he thought they were having protected sex, Comfort would 'deliberately remove the condom' because it 'felt better' and told him she was on birth control.
In January 2013 - four months into their relationship - Comfort became pregnant with their now-four-year-old son.
During the pregnancy, Comfort 'continued on her path of emotional abuse' toward Zappin and often told him the baby wasn't his, according to court papers.
'She would continuously refer to the unborn child as 'n***** baby', 'n**let', and 'turdskin' in reference to ethnicity of the other men she claimed to be the child's father.
Zappin claims that the abuse 'intensified' as Comfort's pregnancy progressed, claiming she would 'bite his genitals' during sex, 'causing it to bleed'.
In May 2013, Comfort's father, Brian Comfort, encouraged the couple to get married, threatening he would take the baby from Zappin if they did not wed, according to court documents.

Comfort gave birth to the couple's only son in October 2013.
Zappin claims that Comfort suffered from postpartum depression and 'had apparent significant difficulties caring for the child'.
A month after giving birth, Comfort flew to her parents home in Tacoma, Washington, with their child with no plans on returning, Zappin claims.
Zappin filed legal papers detailing months of alleged abuse, calling Comfort 'unstable' and asking for custody of the child.
Comfort hit back with her own documents, detailing alleged abuse at the hands of Zappin, asking that she receive full custody of their son.
The DC court denied Zappin custody and instead agreed to a three-month period of supervised visitations.
He claims in court papers that during these visitations, the child would show up with 'suspicious injuries', including bruising, welts and black eyes.
In February 2014, Zappin filed action for divorce seeking custody of the child in New York County Supreme Court.
It was then that Cohen and Wallack became involved in the case, with Cohen the appointed lawyer for the couple's son, and Wallack being Comfort's lawyer. When Zappin filed for divorce in 2013, Comford hit back with her own documents, detailing alleged abuse at the hands of Zappin, asking that she receive full custody of their son. Wallack is a high-profile celebrity lawyer who briefly worked with actress Kelly Rutherford during her divorce and custody battle.
Zappin alleges that Wallack made up claims that he tried to abduct his child during a supervised visit and encouraged Comfort to 'make up the most heinous allegations' against him so she could keep the child.
'Similarly, Comfort told Plaintiff that Wallack advised her to show up late to visits, withhold any and all information about the child rom Plaintiff and taunt Plaintiff over text messages in an effort to agitate and anger Plaintiff so as to manufacture statements from Plaintiff to claim he had a temper and that he had a pattern of making 'false allegations against the mother,' Zappin says in court documents. Zappin also claims that Wallack 'attempted to pressure [Comfort] to have sex with him to satisfy portions of her ballooning legal fees'.
He claims that Wallack and Comfort started a sexual relationship during the summer of 2015, and used money from Comfort and her father to splurge on vacations and designer clothing.
Meanwhile Cohen, who Zappin calls a 'self-proclaimed militant feminist who has made her livelihood attacking men', was appointed as the couple's child lawyer.
Zappin claims that Cohen was court appointed with a rate of $600 per hour and took 'Comfort's position on every visitation dispute - no matter how unreasonable the position was'.
He says that Cohen then worked with Wallack to 'churn enormous fees' and 'discredit' him as a Plaintiff by concealing Comfort's medical records and the digital evidence of Comfort's domestic violence claims.
Zappin claims that the domestic violence photos used int he 2016 trial were 'not accurate' and 'likely altered'.
He claimed that Comfort did not produce the photos of her bruising until months after the alleged incidents.
In his legal documents, he compares the images to photos of Comfort from the same time period taken by her mother and provided as part of her testimony in which Comfort looks happy and unbruised. The trial ended in March 2016, with Comfort receiving full custody of the couple's child.
But between Wallack and Cohen, Comfort and Zappin faced more than $1million in legal fees, which Zappin claims was part of a plot of 'financially ruin him'.
Wallack filed a motion in September 2016 demanding that Zappin pay him $400,000.
In the filing, he said he billed Comfort $857,881, but she had only paid $530,000, leaving an outstanding balance of $327,881 - a cost that Wallack wanted Zappin to pay.
Between Wallack's fees and Cohen's $600-per-hour rate, the couple racked up more than $1million in legal costs during the trial.
'It is unfathomable to think that a custody matter involving a then two year old could cost nearly a million dollars in legal fees,' Zappin claims in his lawsuit.
In his lawsuit filed on February 23, Zappin accuses Comfort, Wallack and Cohen of fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, abuse of process, conspiracy to commit abuse of process, breach of contract, tortious interference with prospective contractual rights, and tortious interference with parental rights.
He claims he has suffered damages as a result of the Defendants' conduct and seeks 'damages in an amount to be determined at trial'.
Comfort, Wallack and Cohen have not yet responded to the lawsuit.
Zappin has been involved in several lawsuits in recent years, including one alleging another ex-girlfriend of abuse and another in which he accuses a judge of spitting on him during an encounter on a Manhattan sidewalk.
