I personally think that there needs to be a concept that I have termed "Permissive Inefficiency" where there are jobs provided to these types of people where they can contribute - which is sort of how it was in Ancient China, where an effort was made to allow people who were on the lower end of society the ability to participate in and contribute to the greater society.

Higher interest rates allows a lot of more simple people to succeed eventually - I had a relative who was in the Greatest Generation who had mental problems and never married, only graduated high school and worked a simple retail job her whole life but died a millionaire because she saved her money at a bank and earned like 7% on it.

it is based solely on income though. they impute something like 1% of assets to income. so you can have $500K in the bank, but that only adds $5K to your annual income.
