What he did, is hired small local vendors to do wiring, cabling, rack installation and some other similar work and had the vendor bill him double for each invoice. Then the vendor would pay him back in cash for half. That way they both "won." Until they got caught by a fresh out of undergrad accounting hire who noticed the monthly invoices were almost exactly the same amount each month even though there was no contract stating a certain monthly amount. In other words, the monthly bills should have been different because the work was never exactly the same, but they all landed right around the same amount.

So, the company auditors called the vendor up to ask some questions about the bills and the dude folded right away. He ended up turning state's evidence and didn't do a day in jail, the guy I knew got 5 years because the idiot took the cash to the local post office and BOUGHT MONEY ORDERS and then mailed them to creditors, his house, etc. So, he got a lot of additional mail fraud charges.

This was about 10 years ago. He now owns a small construction company and seems to be doing OK.

They think he took between $2-3 million.

IT Director dude was placing purchase orders for CAT wiring, keyboards, server hardware, and crap like that from his brother's company. Except they were just bogus purchase orders and the brother was just mailing empty boxes to the IT director dude. Nobody was wise to the scheme expect when the IT guy went on like a two week vacation, ended up getting injured while on vacation (I think he like blew out his ankle or something), and worked from home for another two weeks or so. All the while he kept placing POs and the brother fulfilled the "orders" and shipped them out. The boxes were placed inside IT dude's office and they kept piling up there. Eventually one of the office drones opened up one of the boxes and it was empty. Opened up more boxes inside the guy's office and they were all empty. IT Director guy was fired a few days later. No charges filed though.

i've been sick and decided to get some food late night so i not take cold medicine on an empty stomach. i go and there is a benz, i dont remember the model, but it was new and still had a temp license on it in front of me. they get to order screen and there is a back and forth and the woman has a phone with her. gets to the window and picks up what is obviously like a door dash or uber eats order. she has back and forth with the window clerk, opens her driver's side gingerly so not to scrape the door as it's close to the window. has the trunk popped and puts the orders in the trunk.
